Laos and Cambodia Highlight

Detailed Itinerary:

Day 1: Bangkok - Luang Prabang

Upon arrival Luang Prabang airport, transfer to Parasol Blanc hotel or similar in town for check in. (Lunch might have been provided on board the plane). Afterwards, visit main highlights of Luang Prabang such as; Visoune, Vat Aham and Phousi Hill and enjoy the view of the ncity. Then visit Vat Mai Souvannaphoummarame and watch the sunset at Vat Siphoutthabath Tai. Dinner at hotel or at a local restaurant (at your request)
Accommodation at Le Parasol Blanc Hotel or similar

Day 2: Luang Prabang - Pak Ou Cave – Luang Prabang
Breakfast at hotel.
Visit Vat Xieng Thong, the most beautiful temple of Luang Prabang dating from the 16th Century and then take a short walk the to the local pier of Luang Prabang to embark on a traditional boat trip up-stream on the Mekong River to admire the sacred Buddha caves of Tham Ting and Tham Phoume. En-route, stop-by to visit Ban Xanghai where sticky rice wine distillation can be observed. Picnic lunch near by the cave or at a bamboo cottage opposite the caves. Visit the sacred Buddha cave where are enshrined a thousand Buddha images from 13 - 16th Century. Return to Luang Prabang and inspect Ban Phanom, the weaving village of Lao textiles.

Day 3: Luang Prabang – Vientiane
Breakfast at hotel.
Visit the National Museum, the former Royal King's Palace and the busy local market of Luang Prabang.
Transfer to the airport for departure flight to Vientiane. Upon arrival at Wattay Airport, transfer to Novotel or similar for check-in. Lunch at hotel.
Beginning in the afternoon, start to discover the main highlights of Vientiane such as: Vat Sisaket, Ho Phrakeo, Patouxai, That Luang Stupa and the fresh market (if time permits).
Dinner and overnight at your hotel.

Day 4: Vientiane - Pakse - Vat Phou – Khong Island
Early morning breakfast at hotel. Transfer to the airport for check-in and departure to Pakse. Upon arrival at Pakse Airport, transfer directly to the local pier to embark on a traditional boat to Champasack. Continue your excursion by car for 15km to visit the ruined Khmer temple of Wat Phou Champasack which dates from the 8 - 11th Century. Lunch at a local restaurant in Champasack.
Continue your journey on a traditional boat (if time permits, since it take 5 or 6 hours from Champasack to Khong druing the dry-season) or by car to Ban Hatsaykhoune. Embark on traditional boat to cross the Mekong River to Khong Island. Upon arrival, transfer to Villa Mouang Khong Guesthouse or similar for check-in. After the check-in, start a promenade by Tuk Tuk or on foot to meet the local people. Dinner and overnight at Villa Muang Khong Hotel or similar.

Day 5: Khong exploring and visit
Breakfast at hotel.
Excursion by bicycle or Tuk Tuk to visit Vat Khaokeo and Khong. Lunch at the hotel or at a local restaurant. Embark on a traditional boat across the Mekong river to Ban Hatsaykhoune and continue your journey by road to Ban Nakasang. Then embark on a traditional boat to Ban Khone to visit Liphi, known as the name of Samphamith. Explore the ruined Railway built by the French during the colonial period, then return to Ban Nakasang and finally to Khong.
Dinner and overnight at Villa Muang Khong Hotel or similar

Day 6: Khong - Khonephapheng – Veune Kham – Kratie
Breakfast at hotel.
Visit the most famous waterfall of the Mekong River. Continue your excursion by car to Veune Kham.
Upon arrival at the Laos/Cambodian border, transfer directly to the Immigration office for customs procedures. Then embark to Stung Treng in Cambodia, by speedboat (around 1h-1.30h). The boat can carry 4 passengers with their luggage. Lunch at Stung Treng at a local restaurant.
After lunch depart by a private speed boat to Kratier (around 3-4hrs). En-route stop-by at Sambo, at the river dolphin’s site. Observe the dolphins until sunset. Arrive in Kratier on the Mekong and check-in at hotel.
Dinner at local restaurant. Accommodation at hotel.

Day 7: Kratie - Kompong Cham

Breakfast at hotel. Brief tour of the small colonial-style town. Visit the pagoda of Vihear Kork (19th C.) and the Wat Phom Sambok to admire the Buddhist monastery. Enjoy the magnificent view of the surrounding countryside from the hilltop. Return to Kratie at around 11 a.m.
Lunch at local restaurant in Kratie.
In the afternoon, departure from Kratie to Kompong Cham by road (around 4 hours).
En-route stop at Chlong village to admire one of the oldest wooden houses of Cambodia. Arrive late afternoon in Kompong Cham for dinner and accommodation.

Day 8: Kompong Cham - Phnom Penh
Breakfast at hotel
Departure on a private speedboat to the silk-weaving village.
After lunch visit of Wat Nokor and departure to Phnom Penh by road (2hrs).
Arrive in Phnom Penh in the late afternoon. Transfer to hotel.
Diner and accommodation at hotel

Day 9: Phnom Penh
Breakfast at hotel.
Start the visit of Phnom Penh with the fantastic National Museum, the Silver Pagoda, the Royal Palace and the Wat Phnom. Lunch at hotel. Early afternoon visit of the notorious Tuol Sleng Museum and the busy Russian Market. Dinner at local restaurant and overnight at hotel.

Day 10: Phnom Penh - Siem Reap
Breakfast at hotel. Transfer to the airport to catch your flight from Phnom Penh to Siem Reap. Arrive in Siem Reap and transfer to your hotel.
Lunch at the hotel.
Visit of majestic Angkor Wat until sunset.
Dinner spectacle with Apsara Dance Show.
Accommodation at hotel.

Day 11: Siem Reap
Breakfast at the hotel.
Start the discovery of the South Gate of Angkor Thom, the famous Bayon, The Royal Enclosure, Phimeanakas, The Elephants Terrace and The Terrace of the Leper king.
Lunch at hotel.
Continue to discover famous Ta Prohm, Takeo and Preah Khan temples.
Dinner at local restaurant.
Accommodation at hotel.

Day 12: Siem Reap
Breakfast at the hotel.
Full day Excursion at Boeng Mealea temple
Picnic Lunch on the site.
On the way back stop-by to visit the Information Center of Kanta Bopha Children Hospital.
Dinner at local restaurant.
Accommodation at hotel.

Day 13: Siem Reap
Breakfast at the hotel.
Full day to visit the little known Banteay Srey temple and Kabal Spean, the river of the Thousand Lingas.
Picnic lunch at the site. Return to Siem Reap in the afternoon.
Dinner and accommodation at hotel.

Day 14: Siem Reap – Bangkok
Breakfast at the hotel.
Day at leisure until transfer to the airport.
